Dr. Tom Carskadon
Tom Carskadon is Professor of Psychology, Undergraduate Coordinator for Psychology, and John Grisham Master Teacher. He is also Editor of the Journal of Psychological Type. In addition to his duties in the Psychology Department, he currently chairs the University Instructional Improvement Committee, the University Teaching Evaluation Committee, the Committee to Develop a Leadership Studies minor, and the Society of Scholars Council of Advisors.
Tom is a nationally recognized expert on the First-Year Experience of college, and he gives presentations and workshops across the country on how best to teach and serve our entering college and university students. “Dr. C.,” as his students know him, has taught more than 30,000 students over the past 33 years. He is passionate about teaching and about Mississippi State University.
Tom’s goal is to teach for 50 years, and to teach the grandchildren of the students he taught when he started here in 1973. He is proud of any way in which the ALHP and his other work may contribute to the education and training of tomorrow's leaders and citizens.
